I wonder how much the health insurance industry paid into Republican Lt. Governor Mary Taylor's political campaign for her Obamacare rant in the December 10th edition of the Times Leader?
Let's look at several of the great new benefits that the Affordable Health Care Act (a.k.a. Obamacare) will provide for that the Lt. Governor failed to mention in her diatribe:
Also, let's not get all bent-out-of-shape about the "mandatory" provision in Obamacare. We have been mandated to pay into Social Security (or some other government retirement program) and Medicare for a very long time. This new mandatory requirement is required in order to pay for the program which everyone will use-in case you didn't notice everyone gets sick sometime.
As far as it is a bad thing for the government getting involved in health care, give me a break. Did you ever hear of Medicare, Medicaid (pays for most elderly who have to be in a nursing home and for the impoverished), Veterans, Women Children Infants, the National Institute of Health, etc. The present system is already over sixty percent Federal Government involvement.
You might say let the uninsured go to the ER. The ER is mandated by Federal law to accept you, but it is the most costly form of health care, far more than non-emergency health care will be under Obamacare. (My son is an ER doctor.)
So Mary Taylor the next time you are going to educate us on Obamacare, Please give us all the facts.
