He was born in Wheeling, W. Va. on March 4, 1949, a son of the late Ralph and Catherine Donahue Hoskins.
Sam was an employee of Martins Ferry City Schools; a former coal miner with Y&O coal mining; a musician with various groups; and a member of the Colerain Presbyterian Church. He also enjoyed taking his "Cuda" to area car shows and playing his guitar.
Sam is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Libby Baker Hoskins; a son, Samuel Jason (Lorrissa) of Colerain; two daughters: Holly (Patrick) McCormack of Colerain, Emily Hoskins of Portsmouth, Ohio; a brother Ralph "Spike" Hoskins (Michalene) of Triadelphia, W.Va.; two grandchildren: Taylor Hoskins and Mia McCormack, in-laws': Ralph and Greta Baker; several brothers and sisters in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Monday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Road, Brookside, Ohio where services will be held Tuesday April 17, 2012 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Joe Ellis, officiating.
Interment will be private at the families convenience.
