Ohio University Eastern head women's basketball coach E.J. Schodzinski has completed his recruiting for the 2012-13 season.
Alexus Davis, Union Local's versatile forward, has decided to continue her basketball career at the St. Clairsville-based institution.
Known for her athleticism and defensive prowess, Davis put together a solid career in Morristown, playing for Head Coach Drew Greenwood.
Davis averaged 8.8 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists in leading the Jets to a 17-5 overall record and an OVAC runner-up trophy this past season. She was also an integral part of the 2011 Union Local squad that won the OVAC title during her junior year.
Yet, the value of Davis to her team can't be measured by statistics alone. "Alexus has the ability to guard anyone on the floor," said Greenwood. "She has the quickness to defend a lead guard and the strength to cover in the post. Not too many players have that ability. Plus, she is very coachable."
Davis garnered many honors for her efforts as a Jet. She was named First Team All Eastern District, First Team All OVAC, First Team District 12, First Team Buckeye 8, First Team All Times Leader, Special Mention All Eastern District, and was a participant in the District 12 and OVAC All Star games.
In addition, the well-rounded Davis was an honor roll student at Union Local, earning a 3.8 grade point average in the classroom as a Jet. She also took an active role in the science club, prom planning club, prom court, homecoming court, and was a four year member of the track team.
OU Eastern returns four starters from the 2012 team that finished 22-5 and captured the Ohio Regional Campus State Championship for the second consecutive season.
