Wheeling Health Right announced the winners for its 19th annual Chefs’ Auction, themed “Western Glitz,” on Tuesday at the Wheeling Island Hotel, Casino and Racetrack. A panel of anonymous judges chose winners for best dessert, best appetizer, best decor, best presentation and best food in three categories — fine dining, casual dining and specialty dining. The People’s Choice award for best overall, voted on by the nearly 700 people in attendance, overwhelmingly went to Mehlman’s Cafeteria in St. Clairsville. This was Mehlman’s first year in the Chefs’ Auction. Jay and Darlene Mehlman, left, receive their award from Kathie Brown and Dee Phillips of Wheeling Health Right. For a list of all the Chefs’ Auction winners, read Ticket in Thursday’s Times Leader.
