DILLONVALE - Buckeye Local School District will continue to be led by Superintendent of Schools Mark Miller for the foreseeable future as members of the board of education approved a new five year contract which goes into effect Aug. 1, 2012.

In addition to Miller's contract, the board also approved a new five-year contract for Treasurer Dana Garrison, which also takes effect Aug. 1, 2012.

The vote drew a split result from board members with Board of Education President Chuck Haggerty and board member Joe Zelek casting negative votes.

In addition to casting votes in favor of the two contracts, board members Alice Owens and Naoma Kolkedy offered comments of individual support for the superintendent and the treasurer respectively.

A completely unified front was presented by the board when it came to the question of whether or not to accept a vote of endorsement from the non-certified personnel regarding a new three year contract.

Unified board approval was also recorded on a vote continuing an agreement which brings Jefferson County Sheriff's Deputy Scott Polen into the district's schools to provide law enforcement services within the Buckeye Local School District. The contract will run from Oct. 1, 2012 through Sept. 30, 2013.
