KISSELL, Bernard, 91, of Shadyside, OH, died Friday, May 25, 2012 in Westerville, OH.
He was born November 24, 1920 in Shadyside, OH, a son of the late Andrew and Elizabeth Gonda Kissell.
He was a retired river tipple operator for the former North American Coal Company's No. 1 Mine in Powhatan Point, a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church in Shadyside, OH, the St. Mary Church Choir and the American Legion Post 521. He was a US Army veteran of World War II.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Kissell and one brother, Eugene Kissell.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Frances Haydin Kissell; one daughter, Patti (Tom) Berger of Westerville, OH, one son, Charles Bernard (Rosemarie) Kissell of Avon Lake, OH and two sisters, Bernadine Kissell of Shadyside, OH and Katherine Ladyga of Florida. Also one granddaughter, Tricia Berger of New Albany, OH and two grandsons, Trevor (Amanda) Berger of Johnstown, OH and Tyler (Amanda) Berger of New Albany, Ohio and two great-grandchildren, Sara and Benjamin Berger and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory, 3900 Central Avenue, Shadyside, OH on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.. Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Samuel R. Saprano, as Celebrant. Interment in the Powhatan Cemetery in Powhatan Point, Ohio with Full Military Honors conducted by the Moundsville Veterans Honor Guard. American Legion Post 521 will conduct services on Wednesday at 7 p.m. followed by vigil services at 7:30 p.m.
