WOODSFIELD - Several school buildings being replaced in the Switzerland of Ohio Local School District were sold at public auction this week.

"I hope that these buildings don't deteriorate and become an eyesore for the communities," said one school board member.

Upon review and approval, the school board sold the following former schools:

Altogether the school building auction brought in $415,620.

During Woodsfield Village Council's meeting Monday night, Jeru Real Estate requested rezoning of the two areas involving the two Woodsfield schools from residential to business. A hearing has been set for July 16 to discuss the issue.

The school board plans to recycle the land on which Skyvue Elementary School currently sits in order to build the new school there.

Other than just approving the bids this week, several new teachers were hired as well. The school board will hold another auction later on to sell the furniture once the new schools are built.

The approval for the public auction was held during a meeting Monday at 5 p.m. The meeting was open to the public, and all school buildings that are being replaced were sold.
