CADIZ - Harrison County commissioners Wednesday, and at the request of Doug Crabtree, authorized agreement 19-12 with Richland Engineering of Mansfield to load rate three bridges in the county.
"Our office completed the application process through the County Engineers Association of Ohio (CEAO) for Bridge Load Ratings and has been notified that we have been approved for funding," said Crabtree. "We will be using funds from the CEAO LBR Program to load rate three bridges in Harrison County. The structures included in the ratings are the bridges on: E. Main St. CR 5, Old Hopedale Road; in Hopedale, Short Creek Township 522, Zitko Road near Georgetown; and on CR 51, Cadiz-Amsterdam Road over the railroad."
Action on resolution 10-12 authorizing Harrison County to file an application with the Ohio Attorney General's Office to participate in the Moving Forward Grant Program was also taken during the meeting.
This application is in regard to funding available for residential demolition.
Commissioner Barbara Pincola pointed out that the Ohio Attorney General's Office was successful in a settlement with the nation's largest mortgage servicers over foreclosure abuses, fraud and unacceptable mortgage practices and has made $75 million in funding available for residential demolition.
Harrison County Treasurer Vicki Sefsick announced that the second half property tax bills are printed and ready to ship.
In other business, commissioners increased appropriations in the amount of $9,000 into X07-X01 for the Harrison County Sheriff's Office.
Commissioners also appropriated $466.21 for the Common Pleas - General Division into County Corrections Program funds.
