THEISS, Joan M., 83, of Wheeling, formerly of Wolfhurst, died Saturday June 16, 2012 at Bishop Hodges Continuous Care Center Wheeling.
She was born August 13, 1928 in Wheeling, a daughter of the late Anton and Anna Pozar Smila.
She was a retired employee of Carson Petroleum in Lansing, and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church Wolfurst.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred W. Theiss; four sisters, Mary Krasevec, Josephine Rock, Anna Zadell, and Amelia Nemec; three brothers, John, Frank and Anthony Smila.
Joan is survived by a sister, Olga Poluga of Martins Ferry, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Road, Brookside, Tuesday June 19,2012 from 4-8 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church Martins Ferry, with Fr. Thomas Marut officiating.
Interment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery Wheeling.
In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Central School 24 N. Fourth St. Martins Ferry, Ohio 43935.
Wake service will be recited on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
