TWO ABANDONED structures on West 23rd Street in Bellaire were destroyed by fire late Monday night and early this morning. Firefighters remained on the scene early today to douse hot spots.

Officials blocked off West 23rd Street (Ohio 147) to traffic in order for emergency crews to battle the blazes.

It was unsure at press time who owned the buildings.

Responding to the fire were units from Neffs, Spirit of '76, Martins Ferry and Shadyside.

The Salvation Army canteen was also at the scene.

Telephone calls to the Neffs Volunteer Fire Department were of no avail.
