TWO adults and a juvenile allegedly broke into an apartment at St. Myer Terrace in Martins Ferry today at 3:12 a.m., fled the scene and were chased by police before they crashed the vehicle in Wheeling.
According to information at the Martins Ferry Police Department, dispatch received a call that two black males broke into the apartment and that a female was reported with them. Witnesses saw them get into a blue car with Ohio registration.
When officers arrived at the scene, they heard that Bridgeport police were in pursuit of the vehicle into West Virginia, and within minutes, it crashed in the area of 16th and Wood Streets in Wheeling.
A Martins Ferry police officer talked to the victim and witnesses. The witnesses said they saw two males and the female get into the blue car and leave. One of the witnesses saw one of the males kick in the door.
The victim said he was familiar with the three individuals and positively identified them as being the ones who broke into the apartment. The adult male and juvenile have Bellaire addresses and the female is from Moundsville.
Bridgeport police took the juvenile into custody, and he is currently being held in Wheeling. A witness reportedly saw the male and a female get out of the car following the crash, and they ran into some weeds. Officers searched the area, and they are still at large. Warrants will be issued on the three suspects.
It was reported that a weapon may have been used in the incident. The suspects face charges of aggravated burglary, armed with a deadly weapon, dangerous ordinance and aggravated menacing.
