BARNESVILLE - The second concert of the SHOWCASE 2012 Summer Series is set for 8 p.m. Thursday, June 28, at Community Arts Place in Barnesville. The program will be presented by Roz and Lynn from Dillonvale. They are a mother-daughter act who will delight the Showcase audience with classic oldies/variety music.
Starting at 6:45 there will be a preconcert warm-up show by Rachel Beck of St. Clairsville. Her repertoire includes Christian, country, and popular music. Also at 6:45, an exhibit by award-winning artist, Robert Sako from St. Clairsville is set to begin.
A food stand will be open during the evening. Those coming to the musical programs should bring their own lawn chairs. In case of rain, events will be moved indoors to the Grange Hall on Shamrock Drive. Donations are appreciated.
Roz and Lynn will take listeners on a trip down memory lane to the sentimental past. You will remember your first date with your sweetheart as romantic love songs come alive with their beautiful solos and duets. Fast food was a new thing then and life was cool at drive-in movies.
Ponytails and poodle skirts were the fashion of the day along with rock n' rollin' in bobby socks and saddle shoes to songs playing on the jukebox. The duo has performed at festivals, weddings, gospel events, parties and numerous other celebrations in the Ohio Valley.
Rachel Beck became interested in music at an early age, learning to play the flute. As a teen, she taught herself to play the guitar. She shares her talents with a local hospital and sings throughout the tri-state area for business, social, educational, and church functions including TV programs and radio air play.
Robert Sako, was an art instructor in the Martins Ferry School District for 30 years, is a graduate of West Liberty University in art education and has a Master's Degree from Muskingum University also. He has been featured in both one person shows and several group exhibitions in and around the Ohio Valley and has won many awards for his work in drawing, painting, photography, and digital imagery.
