‘Meet the OV’ publishes Sunday

June 22, 2012
Times Leader

MARTINS FERRY - This Sunday, The Times Leader will publish "Meet the Ohio Valley 2012."

This special section takes a look at life in the communities in and around Belmont County's six largest towns: Barnesville, Bellaire, Bridgeport, Martins Ferry, St. Clairsville and Shadyside.

In years past, The Times Leader published separate "Our Town" special sections on an annual basis, with each town featured in its own section. In recent years, we combined the six "Our Town" sections into one comprehensive guide to these communities.

"Meet the Ohio Valley" in many ways is a collaborative effort between The Times Leader and our local businesses.

The newspaper works closely with the area's chambers of commerce to gather information for these popular special sections that not only offer readers insight about each town's unique character and look at the happenings that take place Belmont County's communities, but also provides an in-depth reference to the many member businesses at the local chambers of commerce.

"We're very proud of the partnerships we have with the area's many local businesses and the chambers of commerce," said Lori Figurski, publisher of The Times Leader.

"They truly provide the economic backbone of our local communities, and we hope 'Meet the Ohio Valley 2012' helps connect our readers with them and the array of different services they offer."

The "Meet the Ohio Valley 2012" supplement will appear inside Sunday's edition of The Times Leader and will also be available at the participating chamber offices. The section is designed to be informative not only to the area's readers, but also to visitors and businesses from outside the area that may be interested in checking out the Ohio Valley.

They say a picture is worth 1,000 words, and this 52-page special publication is filled with photos highlighting some of the most notable features and landmarks each of these local communities has to offer. The sections provide a cross section of what each of these unique towns represent, adding their unique individual flavor to our Ohio Valley melting pot as a whole.

Each town has letters from the presidents of their chamber of commerce and detailed figures related to each community's demographics.

The sections also include complete chamber directories with names, addresses and phone numbers of every member business from each of the participating chamber of commerce in Belmont County.

We hope you enjoy the "Meet the Ohio Valley 2012" special section and keep it on hand through 2013.
