PIEDMONT - The report is in after a fatal two-car accident left a Freeport man dead the June 14.
According to highway patrol officials, at about 3 a.m. Michael H. Moore, 57, Brookville, was operating a 2007 freightliner commercial vehicle eastbound on US 22. A 2001 Pontiac Sunfire operated by Norman Nattress, 55, Freeport was westbound and went left of center.
Moore reportedly attempted to avoid, but struck Nattress' car and forced both vehicles off the edge of the road and over an embankment.
Nattress was pronounced dead at the scene. Moore and his passenger were uninjured. Officials say he report places Nattress at fault in the accident.
Officials noted that the investigation was complicated by the need to extensively reconstruct the scene due to the hard impact.
Emergency squads from Moorefield, Piedmont and Cadiz were on-scene.
