Harrison Hills welcomes staff

CADIZ The Harrison Hills City Board of Education took stock of the summer and approved staff and policy arrangements for the coming school year during Thursday night's meeting.

In matters of personnel, board confirmed the assignment of Angela Bailey, fifth grade teacher at Harrison North Elementary.

The board approved the employment of Michael Valesko, fifth grade teacher; Blake Allen, English teacher; Orion Bengier, intervention; Teresa Dunlap, English teacher; Marian Weber, kindergarten teacher; Rebecca Agostini, sixth grade teacher; Jessica Knight, fourth grade teacher, and Ben Hodkinson, sixth grade teacher.

Board also approved the retirement/resignation of Pauline Gratchen of Help Me Grow, Dorothy Turner, fourth grade teacher, and Virginia Bieber, fourth grade teacher.

Regarding employment, the board employed Jennifer Ryder as principal for two years Aug. 1, 2012-July 31, 2014.

The board approved Summer School Enrichment employees including Gale Zook, bus driver; Rich McKinney, MH teacher; Rob Richards, MH teacher and Brenda Beckett, aide.

Also, Todd Dunlap, social studies teacher, and Cindy Lewis, science teacher, were approved for OGT summer intervention.

Board approved volunteer coaches William Walker and Dan Milleson, varsity football and basketball, respectively.

The board approved the resignation of Ashley Baur as seventh and eighth grade cheer supplemental and employed Tammy Gross for the positions.

The board approved a personal leave of absence for Elizabeth Brooks, Aug. 20, 2012 to June 30, 2013.

The board approved re-employing Linda Trushel, Cortney Spoul, and Kassondra Chaney with Help Me Grow and Tiffany Stock of Family with Children First at a one-year limited contract for 2012-2013.

Board approved Kevin Foster as mechanic and bus driver for the 2012-2013 school year.

In business and operation, board approved course fees for the 2012-2013 school year. Board also approved a cooperative service contract with OMERESA for the school year, covering the inservice program, cooperative purchasing program, and legal services.

Board approved insurance rates for July 1, 2012-June 30, 2013 with OMERESA Health Benefits. Medical/Rx for families is $1,643 and single, $741. Dental is $65.71 for families and $21.61 for singles.

Board approved an athletic petty cash checking account to be used to pay officials and security personnel on duty during athletic events during the upcoming school year. Raymond Hibbs, athletic director, will maintain the records and work in cooperation with the treasurer in managing and accounting for funds in the appropriate manner. The maximum they may pay to an official is $400. A list of personnel must be presented to the treasurer or assistant treasurer prior to payment. The treasurer has the authority to close the account in the event of discrepancies.

Board approved the Ohio School Plan for building/property/fleet insurance for fiscal years 2013, 2014, and 2015. Board approved temporary appropriations for fiscal year 2013.

Board approved roof restoration at Harrison Central High School Section One under state term contract.

Board approved a transition agreement with Harcatus Head Start for children who will transition to kindergarten for the upcoming school year.

Board approved a settlement agreement with HHTA and Holly Brindley, HHTA member.

Board approved an Interagency Agreement between Harcatus Head Start and the Harrison Hills City School District for the upcoming school year.

Board approved payment in lieu of bus transportation to parents who sent letters announcing their child was attending school where proving transportation was declared impractical.

Board approved payment for eligible pupils participating in post secondary enrollment options for the 2011-2012 school year.
