WALFORD, Edwin D. "Dinny," 68, of Bridge port, got to fly again, this time with the Angels, on July 8, 2012 at Valley Hospice Care North Steubenville.
He was born December 11, 1943 in Wheeling, a son of the late Edwin John "Jack" and Margaret "Peg" (Dinsmore) Walford.
He was the Owner and Operator of Ohio Valley Flight Academy. He was also a retired school teacher and bus drive for the Martins Ferry School System, and a member of the First Christian Church Martins Ferry where he was an Elder, taught Sunday School and Beginner Church, and was in charge of the Bus Ministry.
He flew airplanes for 51 years and was a flight instructor for 44 years. Dinny was blessed to have three families his own loving family, the Church, and his Airport Family.
Dinny is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Jackie (Sommer) Walford; daughters, Amy (Jeff) Porter of Wheeling, Terri (Matthew) Lloyd of Oak Ridge TN, and Leighann (Tommy) Zinn of Martins Ferry; a brother, John Walford of Bridgeport; 10 grandchildren, J. T. and Luke Porter, Naomi, Cami, Natasha, and Jack Lloyd, Haylee, Kaylynn, Laci, and Elijah Zinn.
The grandchildren will really miss their weekly "Pappy Day."
There will be a celebration of Dinny's life on Tuesday July 10, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Road, Brookside.
There will also be visitation on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at the First Christian Church, 710 S. Zane Highway Martins Ferry, with Minister Rod Kasler officiating.
Interment in Linwood Cemetery Blaine.
