BELLAIRE - An investigator from the state fire marshal's office was expected to be in Bellaire today to investigate an early morning blaze, which resulted in extensive damage to an apartment building on 37th Street, Belllaire, according to a spokesman for the Neffs Volunteer Fire Department.
The Neffs Emergency Squad transported one occupant of the two-story apartment building to the Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling.
Firefighters from Martins Ferry, Shadyside and Neffs responded to the fire call received around 3:42 a.m. People in the building were evacuated.
Cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
On the scene in addition to the fire departments was the Salvation Army Canteen.
Firefighters cleared the scene at 5:58 a.m., according to officials from the fire department.
