HICKS, Willard E., 85, of Mt. Pleasant, died Thursday August 2, 2012 at East Ohio Regional Hospital Martins Ferry.
He was born August 15, 1926 in Martins Ferry, a son of the late Robert and Bertha (Cochran) Hicks.
He was a retired employee of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Co. Yorkville Plant, a veteran of WWII in the U.S. Air Force, the Victory Baptist Church St. Clairsville, and the American Legion Post #38 Martins Ferry.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife. Florence W. (Jeffers) Hicks in January of 2011; brothers, Robert Dale, Alvin Ray, and Cyril Hicks; sisters, Virginia McMillen, Dorothy Weibly, Catherine Holliday, and Mildred Hicks.
Willard is survived by two daughters, Judy (Carl) Martin of Dunbar WV, and Kathy (Scott) Stone of Cambridge; two grandchildren, Ryan Mourer, and Kara Martin and her fiance Ryan Thomas; a brother, Kenneth (Rose) Hicks of Clermont FL.
Friends are invited to a celebration of Willard's life on Monday August 6, 2012 from 5-8 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 154 Second St., Dillonvale, Ohio.
Services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Murray Stafford officiating.
Interment in Holly Memorial Gardens Pleasant Grove.
Full military honors will be conducted by the Belmont County Council of the American Legion on Tuesday at 10:45 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
