THE BODY of a man was found shortly after 6 a.m. today on U.S. 40 near the entrance to Ebberts' Farm Market east of St. Clairsville.
It is alleged that the man may have been the victim of a hit and run incident.
Troopers from the St. Clairsville Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol and deputies from the Belmont County Sheriff's Office were at the scene awaiting the arrival of a crash reconstructionist and district investigators from Cambridge.
The Belmont County deputy coroner was also at the scene.
A trooper said no further information is being released at this time.
