Bridge project results in detours

August 9, 2012
By KIM NORTH - Staff Writer , Times Leader

ST. CLAIRSVILLE - Residents of the Belmont County seat are experiencing a major detour as the Reservoir Road bridge replacement project continues.

The project includes the removal of the superstructure of the bridge over Interstate 70 and carrying Township Road 722 and all necessary approach work on both sides of the bridge. It has been estimated to last 120 days. The entire cost of the project will be borne by ODOT unless the city requests any features or apparatus be included. The city will also be responsible for the maintenance of sidewalk curb ramps.

All required rights-of-way will be acquired or made available.

Mayor Robert Vincenzo said the project will bring a welcome change. He added that the work will include raising the bridge to allow large vehicles to pass rather than detouring them through St. Clairsville. He added that although such issues are infrequent, they have involved damage to light poles and sidewalks.
