ST. CLAIRSVILLE-Attorney Charles H. Bean has announced his candidacy for the position of Belmont County Western Division Court Judge in the Nov. 6 General Election. He seeks to fill the position after the announcement of the retirement of Judge Harry W. White.
Attorney Bean and his wife of 41 years, Linda, have been a resident of St. Clairsville, Ohio for more than 40 years. They have three children, Brian, Becky and Mark and three grandchildren. They are active members of the Thoburn United Methodist Church. A graduate of River High School, Charlie graduated from Ohio University with an undergraduate AB degree with Honors and obtained his Juris Doctorate Degree from The Ohio State University College of Law. He commenced practice in St. Clairsville, with Carter Thornburg and has practiced law in St. Clairsville with his office located next to the Belmont County Courthouse for more than 40 years.
Charlie enters this election with the hardworking Belmont County residents foremost on his mind.

"I worked my way through college and law school as an iron worker and paid all of my college expenses working summers, Christmas and spring breaks." While at the same time serving in the United States Navy. Charlie's candidacy is endorsed by the Ohio Veterans United.
Charlie is uniquely qualified to be the next Belmont County Western Division Court Judge by recently being elected to the Ohio State Bar Association's Board of Governors. He also is a member of the American Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association, the Belmont County Bar Association and a Fellow of the Ohio State Bar Association Foundation. He was awarded the Peer Review by Martindale Hubbell with an AV, which is the highest rating for integrity and legal ability for the past 27 years.
Attorney Bean is currently serving as Village Solicitor of Powhatan Point, Belmont Savings Bank Board of Directors and former chairperson, past City Solicitor of Shadyside-1972 to 1975, and was chosen a mentor for young lawyers by the Ohio Supreme Court.
"I served as a Special Prosecutor for felony cases in both Belmont and Monroe counties, along with arguing cases in all courts including the U.S. Supreme Court," Bean added, "This experience uniquely qualifies me to be a good and fair judge. I truly believe that everyone is entitled to their day in court and that the court system should treat everyone equally."
Charlie believes that his experience as an iron worker, and serving in the U.S. Navy, gives him a unique perspective of the needs of the citizens that may appear before the court. This, along with his experience and credentials, qualifies him as the best candidate to preside over the Western Division of the Belmont County Court and to be fair and impartial to all the citizens of Belmont County, Ohio.
