ST.?CLAIRSVILLE Belmont College has had many dedicated faculty members who have made an impact on their students, the College, and its many alumni over the years.

The late Marshall J. Piccin is one such individual who sparked unfaltering enthusiasm for his students and the college.

In recognition of Piccin's distinguished service to Belmont College and through the generosity of the Piccin family and friends, a ceremony was held on Thursday in the ATIC (Applied Technology & Innovation Center) to dedicate one of the electronics labs in his memory.

In speaking about Piccin, Belmont College President Dr. Joseph E. Bukowski said, "This dedication is a culmination of Marshall's heritage to Belmont College. During his more than forty year involvement it was evident that he loved this college and the students. As I reflect on Marshall's tenure with Belmont, he had more longevity with the college than any other employee as he began working here in 1971, very close to the inception of Belmont College. His name and contributions should be remembered forever."

Piccin worked at Belmont College in many capacities. He served as a faculty member; program chair; Assistant Dean of Engineering Technologies; and was an active member of the Belmont College Board of Trustees where he served as Vice Chair. Piccin was recognized by his colleagues as a supportive, benevolent, and compassionate leader; in 2006 he was named Dean Emeritus and received the College's Heritage Tree Award, he was also named Trustee Emeritus in 2011.

"Marshall's dedication to the college, its faculty and staff, and its students was evident to all who knew him," said Marcia Bedway, Board of Trustee Member and Foundation Board Vice Chair. "As a member of the faculty and as Dean, Marshall left his legacy of caring for students and their futures. He was integral in the design of the ATIC addition to the building that we stand in today. As a Trustee on the College Board, Marshall has left his legacy of leadership and stewardship. Many of the changes and improvements that are occurring at the College even today are manifestations of plans laid over many years; plans which Marshall helped create."

Piccin's family was in attendance at the dedication and his children; Joseph Piccin and Karen Krajcovic spoke during the ceremony. "We would like to thank Belmont College for nurturing our dad's career," said Karen. "We are saddened that he is not here with us to share this special honor; he would be humbled."

Bedway went on to say, "Marshall's love of the College was also evident through his support of the Belmont College Foundation. Through the generosity of his family and friends the Marshall J. Piccin Memorial Fund, was created. Through this fund, equipment and program improvements will continue to be made in the Engineering Department."

During future College annual campaigns, donors will have the ability to designate their gift to the Marshall J. Piccin Memorial Fund.
