THE WWVA Jamboree, whose first show was in 1933, entertained people for years from theaters in downtown Wheeling and also on the airwaves. Behind the speaker is, at left, the late Chickie Williams while beside her is Marion Martin with the accordion. Chickie and her late husband, "Doc," not only entertained crowds from the Jamboree stage, but went on the road throughout the eastern part of the United States as well as in Canada. Their grandson, Andy McKenzie, is the current mayor of Wheeling.
