GAUS, John W. “Jack”

GAUS, John W. "Jack", loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother and friend, 68, of St. Clairsville, OH, formerly of Wheeling, WV, died Monday, September 3, 2012 in UPMC in Pittsburgh, PA.

He was born November 25, 1943 in Wheeling, son of the late Bernard W. and Anna Rose Suter Gaus.

Mr. Gaus was a retired supervisor and worked in the computer dispatch service center for Consol Coal in McMurray, PA and was a Catholic by faith. He graduated from McKinley High School.

He was a member of the United Mine Workers Association; a past member of BPOE Lodge 28; he was a member of the Men's Bible Study at East Richland Friends Church called Mens Outreaches and was grounds keeper at the church for 2 years. He also was a member of FOPA in Belmont, OH.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Charlotte Foster Gaus.

Surviving are a son, Scott Gaus, and his wife, Andrea, of Rockville, MD; two daughters, Christine Derrow and her husband, James P., of Wheeling and Jackie Roberts of Ripley, WV and Scott Roberts of Ripley, WV; brothers and sisters, Donald Gaus and his wife, Susan, of Valley Grove, WV, Mary Kay Ackerman and her husband, Forest "Butch", of Cadiz, OH, Ruth Ann Stephen and her husband, Craig, of Washington, PA and Bernard Gaus and his wife, Crystal, of Valley Grove, WV; six grandchildren, Jonathan and Maggie Gaus, Ashley, Aubree, James T. and Mary Alyssa Derrow; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at the Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger St., Wheeling (304-242-2311) where service will be held on Friday, September 7, 2012 at noon with Pastor Jerry Wenger officiating.

Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.
