Kent State University women's soccer standout Jaclyn Dutton will apparently miss today's in-state clash with Youngstown State University.

Dutton's father, Scott, reported following his St. Clairsville girls' soccer team's victory Thursday night, that his daughter had suffered an eye injury.

"She got hit in the eye with a ball in practice," he disclosed. "The coaches aren't sure how much time she will miss, but she won't play Friday night."

The state of Ohio's all-time leading goal scorer -- male or female -- was coming off an outstanding weekend when she led the Golden Flashes to the championship at the UTSA?Classic in San Antonio, Texas.

In the two games, the Kent State junior scored five goals, including the Golden Flashes' fastest hat trick ever, victories over Lamar and the host University of Texas-San Antonio.

She tallied twice in the championship game. The first goal came after she was fouled in the penalty box, resulting in her second successful career penalty kick.

Later in the contest, she headed home the Golden Flashes' final goal.

Kent State's 4-0-1 start matches the team's unbeaten streaks that started the 2000 and 2004 seasons.

Today's 4 p.m. start at Zoeller Field begins a three-game homestand for Kent State, which also includes games with Marshall (Sept. 14) and Duquesne (Sept. 16).
