The St. Clairsville golf team rebounded impressively after finishing second in the OVAC Class 4A Tournament last week at Oglebay.
The Red Devils shot a solid score of 302 at the Hilltop Golf Course to win the Black Bear Invitational, hosted by River View High School.
Coach Rick Oberdick's squad was led by senior Caden Myers, senior Adam Jeffries and junior Seth Vannoy who each posted a round of 75. Senior Jared Burghy posted a 77 and senior Zach Keylor finished with a 78.
Invading Cambridge scored a three-game sweep of St. Clairsville Saturday afternoon, winning with scores of 25-19, 26-24 and 27-25 to improve to 4-5 on the season.
St. Clairsville was led on the stat sheet by Brigee Mick, who had 13 points, 12 digs and five assists. Alexis St. Clair had 14 digs, seven kills and four blocks. Rebekah Sadlowski donated 10 digs and three kills.
Buckeye Trail posted a sweep of invading River Saturday morning by scores of 25-17, 27-25 and 25-22.
Lynsey Beros led the Lady Warriors with two aces, four points, 14 digs, 31 assists and two kills. Josie Hensley added 16 kills.
At the Meadowbrook Invitational, Martins Ferry senior Sunshine Wrenn finished third overall in a time of 20:11. Her teammate Lindsay Cunningham was ninth in 21:06.
Union Local's Hannah Nagy was 10th in 21:25, while Casey Glenn was 11th in 21:34.
On the boys' side, Barnesville's Brandon Stephens was 10th overall in 17:23.
At the Boardman Invitational, St. Clairsville senior Amy Castle turned in a strong run. She placed third in a time of 19:13. Senior Julianna Madzia was 18th in a field, which included 298 finishers.
In the Division III race at Boardman, St. John Central's Fallon Doyle finished second in an impressive time of 18:47.57.
Irish senior Corey Leasure was ninth in the boys' field, which included 305 runners. He ran a 16:56.
