Bridgeport swept visiting Paden City in straight sets 25-19, 25-23 and 25-23 and, considering the Wildcats came into the contest at 13-1, the Lady Bulldogs' head coach David Williamson was very happy with the outcome on Frank Baxter Court in John J. Havlicek Gymnasium.

"Let's face it, their record is intimidating," said Williamson of the Wildcats who had swept his Lady Bulldogs on their visit to Paden City last Monday night. "The difference is we showed up tonight, and we played well as a team."

"Give Bridgeport credit," complimented veteran Paden City head coach Fred King. "I told our girls to expect this, Bridgeport is not going to settle for what happened last game."

"They really took it to us," said King. "They hit well, especially in the middle, they served well, got to balls well, found our weakness and took advantage.

"We have some excellent middle hitters and when that part of the game is working it opens up the outside for us," said Williamson.

The evening got off to a rocky start for the Bulldogs as Paden City rolled up 5 unanswered to start the contest, but as would be the story of the evening, Bridgeport battled back to take the first game in convincing fashion.

In the second set, the Bulldogs came back from a five-point deficit to tie it up at 17 apiece and then again knot the board at 21 all before coming alive to finish the set.

Once again in the third set the Bulldogs trailed the Wildcats by six points, 19-13, before rallying back to even the score at 20. The two squads battled back-and-forth trading side outs but once gain it was the Bulldogs completing the sweep.

"We worked extremely hard in the off season and we conditioned a lot," added Williamson. "I told my girls they can play with any team on the court and they really came through."

Brianna Massey had 10 kills and a block, while Jalynn Conaway nailed nine spikes. Emily Nowakowski set it up for 21 assists, while, in the back court, Hannah Lewis dug up 17 for the Bulldogs. Maclaine Murad had six kills and served up 14 points with a pair of aces, one kill and five digs as Bridgeport improves to 6-3.

Paden City was paced at the net by Lynnsie Parsons with 14 kills adding 7 digs. Logan Cosper had 28 assists off of 87 sets, 3 dis, 3 aces and 20 points. Myah Charkawi dug up 15 adding 2 kills and 11 points with 3 aces for the Wildcats.
