CADIZ The Harrison Hills City Board of Education held a special meeting Tuesday to swear in Betty Hugh as a new board member.
She will continue the term of Robert Hugh, her husband, who recently passed away. The term extends through Dec. 31, 2013.
"I humbly accept the board decision to finish out the term of my husband," she said. "This is a bittersweet time for me and I would much rather be supporting him from behind, but by the same token he accepted the responsibility for his term and since he can't finish it, I am willing to do this for him and the Harrison City School District. With God's help I will do the best I can to finish his term and serve the district and the students."
