BARNESVILLE - The Barnesville Exempted Village School Board of Edcation met Thursday evening in the middle school cafeteria to discuss the state of the district.
Beginning the night, Barnesville school officials announced it had recieved the Ohio Auditor of State Award. The award was given for the previous audit on the schools, as it was performed and completed in a timely fashion with zero discrepancies.
Teacher and senior class advisor, Heather Eberhart, presented a proposal for this year's senior class trip. Two options to visit the Disney complex in Orlando were drawn up and given to the board, which gave approval pending the volume of participation.
Concerns were brought up about the PeeWee Shamrock football program using the high school football field. Issues and ideas were discussed, including playing a final game on the newly surfaced field.
This season marks the first on the beautiful new sod, which generally needs attentive care and to be preserved for the first year.
A packet was presented to the school board including research into the expansion of the preschool program. The topic will continue to be researched and brought up at the next meeting.
Several employment positions were approved by the board including:
-Substitute teachers: Lacey Burkhart and Gordon Gee.
-Assistant Boys Basketball Coach: Joseph Stephen
-Elementary After-School Intervention tutors: Danielle Anderson, AshleyMcCabe, Mary Devine, Lisa Galllagher, Bridget Brooks, Rebekah Detling, Bobbi Jo Johnson, and Jana Crawford.
-After School Kindergarten Readiness tutors: Linda Sells, Shelly Ryder, Kayla Ralston, and Danielle Anderson.
-After School Fast ForWord tutors: Melissa McMillen and Tammy Jefferis.
-21st Century K-12 Community Learning Center Grant After School Reading and Math tutors: Mary Samuel, Jean Gallagher, Steve Fisher, and Jamie Carpenter.
-Volunteer Assistant Girls Basketball Coaches: Mike Markovich, Nicholas Bauman, and Jeff Hunkley
