KREUGER, Calvin J., 88, of St. Clairsville, OH, formerly of Martins Ferry, OH, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry, OH.
He was born June 28, 1924 in Rayland, OH, a son of the late Calvin C. Kreuger and Rose (Kovach) Kreuger Cooper.
He was retired from the former Reichart Furniture, Moundsville, OH and also retired from the Martins Ferry Plant of the former Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel. Calvin was a member of the American Legion Post 38, Martins Ferry, V. F. W. Post 4811, Yorkville, OH, Past Exalted Ruler of the BPOE Elks, Ohio City Lodge 486 F.&A.M., life time member of the Yorkville volunteer Fire Department, and a past council member for Martins Ferry City. He was also a veteran of U. S. Navy, WWII.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, George Cooper, his first wife, Bernice (Palcic) Kreuger, second wife, Maxine G. (Wells) Kreuger, a son, James A. Kreuger, and a halfsister, Maryanne Petrella.
Surviving are his daughter Roseanne (James) Samuel of Little Rock, AR, a step-daughter Janet (Don) Kent of Shadyside, OH, a half-brother, Charles Cooper of FL, two half-sisters, Dorothy Cooper, and Eileen Briggs both of Yorkville, OH, three grand children, a great-grand child, two step grandchildren, and three great- grand children.
Friends will be received Sunday 12-3 and 6-8 p.m. at the Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH, where services will be held Monday, Sept. 24, 2012 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Tom N. Thomas officiating. Burial follows in Middlebourne Cemetery, Middlebourne, WV.
Elk services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
