TILTONSVILLE - A benefit for Gary Pielech will be held at the Indian Club in Tiltonsville on Nov. 3. As a longtime local resident of Tiltonsville, Pielech has over four decades working in the Ohio Valley mills throughout his tenure.

As an avid health buff who enjoys running, working out, and a marriage of 14 years, Pielech retired last year with the comfort in mind of medical coverage. As RG Steel just pulled coverage to many of their retirees, Pielech too was included in this cut, leaving him and his wife to cover medical expenses, whereas previously a large portion was taken care of.

After a shoulder injury in 2010, Pielech was to undergo surgery to correct this somewhat normal issue. Luckily, the problem was not fixed. Upon check up to continue the repairs on the shoulder, he had multiple tests run where an abnormality was found. Pielech was informed that he had pancreatic cancer via proceeding results.

For the last two years, Pielech traveled to the University of Texas every three months to receive treatment. He was also just accepted into an experimental program at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, which hopes to treat his case within the next six months, as well as shed light for the future in hopes to help others.

The benefit will run from noon to 11:30 p.m. with 50/50, tip boards, door prizes, and basket raffles. A spaghetti dinner will be held from noon to 6 p.m. with the band JFK playing until just before midnight. There will be the option for take out food orders. Friends, family, neighbors, and anyone is invited attend to help the cause. All proceeds help directly cover previous and future medical expenses necessary on the way to Pielech winning this battle.

Any questions about information or tickets can be directed to Jason Pielech 740-310-2937, Mary Nagler 740-859-2408, or Patty Chambers 740-859-8118.
