Sands Electric champs crowned

The 28th annual Sands Electric Company Golf Classic was held earlier this month at Belmont Hills Country Cub.

The two-man best ball event was won by the duo of Bill Glitch and Mike Egri, who posted a score of 68. That was two shots better than Chris Baugh and Bob Yazrombek.

The third-place team was Bill Mumley and John Pokas with rounds of 73.

Todd Schambach and Mike Mason posted a 74, which tied them for fourth with Steven Luckhardt and Ted Ducker.

Winning the closest to the pin titles were Glitch, Kelly Rine, Jim Mahute and Todd Schambach.

The always coveted title of best dressed for the event went to Roy Heidelbach.

ACE

Martins Ferry senior Kaitlyn Bliss recorded her first hole-in-one last Sunday at River Greens Golf Course in West Lafayette.

Bliss, who was playing the course as a practice round for the sectional tournament, aced the 103-yard 25th hole on the 36-hole layout.

She used a 9-iron.

Her shot was witnessed by her mother, Stacey, and former Ferry golf coach Ken Campanizzi.

BELMONT HILLS

The 2012 Senior Club Championship was held a few weeks ago. Larry Landtiser and Larry Gertscher were the overall champions of the tournament.

Landtiser shot a gross score of 70, while Gertscher fired a 64.

In the 50-59 age group, Larry Blake won the gross title with a round of 75, while Marc Kajfez posted a 67 to win the net.

In the 70 and over, Jake Olsavsky posted an 81 to win the gross title and Jack VanHorne shot a 70 to win the net crown.

THE CLUB'S End of year tournament was held last weekend.

Winning the event was the team of Dave Stack, Dave Diosi, Mark Bukmir and Nick Karras, which shot a 59.

That score was a shot better than the team of Larry Landtiser, Vinny Oswald, John Timko and Martin Lucki.

Also posting a score of 60 and settling for third place were Jamie Martin, Phil Pata, Chuck Poindexter and Don Wild.
