MORRISTOWN Union Local has not made the OVAC playoffs in volleyball for the past four seasons and it is on a mission to make the cut in 2012. The Jets swept a triangular Monday night at Martins Ferry with St. Clairsville and upped their season total to 10-8 with a three-game sweep of Shadyside at home Tuesday night to keep themselves in contention.
The Tigers never reached double figures as the Jets dominated play 25-5, 25-8 and 25-8 on a night where their six seniors were honored.
Carly Schafer was the, "No Deposit, No Return," server for the Jets as she racked up 26 points with eight aces. Schafer also had big numbers front court with 19 assists and five kills.

"Tomorrow night is a big game for us," said Jets coach Sarah Gibeaut, "We host Steubenville, it is our last home game and also could play a big part in whether we make it to the OVAC tournament or not.
"It is our first meeting with Steubenville," added Gibeaut as the Jets are in a battle with the Red Devils, Buckeye Local and Medowbrook for the number 3 and 4 spots in 4A. "We need to get fired up early and come out on top of our game."
Shadyside remains winless and will host Wheeling Central Thursday.
