ST. CLAIRSVILLE Thursday saw the conviction of Clifford Eugene Brown, 43, 312 East Main, Holloway, on four counts involving child pornography.
Judge John M. Solovan II presided in a trial to the court and reviewed the evidence. As a result, Brown was found guilty of two counts possession of child pornography, felonies of the fourth degree carrying a sentence of 18 months each, and two counts pandering child pornography, felonies of the second degree carrying a maximum of eight years.
He faces a maximum sentence of 19 years.
Brown was taken into custody. Assistant Prosecutor Helen Yonak said he would be sentenced Dec. 7.
Yonak noted that the investigation began December of 2011. Brown was arrested Feb. 2012. She added that this was a SPII Task Force case involving Bethesda and St. Clairsville police. It was one of the last cases of late Bethesda Police Chief Tim Zdanski.
She praised the task force for its effectiveness and deterrence.
"Because of the SPII Task Force and because of these convictions we've seen a remarkable decrease in people downloading and sending out child pornography in Belmont County."
