CRACK COCAINE, prescription pills, scales and other drug abuse instruments were seized at a Bellaire residence on Saturday, following an investigation by the Belmont County Drug Task Force, along with Bellaire, Martins Ferry and Shadyside police.
Officers executed a search warrant at 1871 Belmont St., Bellaire, at 1:34 a.m. on Saturday. Barbara A. McGhee lives at the residence.
The warrant stemmed from an investigation where officers observed two individuals leaving the residence on Oct. 5. Officers followed the vehicle and notified the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The patrol unit was able to develop probable cause to stop the vehicle. Officers were also assisted by the St. Clairsville K9 unit. The K9 unit performed a sniff around the vehicle and indicated on the front driver's and passenger doors. Officers found some white rocks on the passenger side of the dash board. After performing a field test , it tested positive for crack cocaine.
Officer Tim Starkey and other Drug Task Force officers were able to secure a warrant from the Belmont County Prosecutor's Office resulting in the seizure of crack cocaine, several different prescription pills, scales, drug abuse instruments, electronic equipment which was allegedly traded for drugs and $2,031 in cash.
The investigation is ongoing and more arrests may come.
