THE MAN who allegedly broke into the Powhatan Health Center on Wednesday was arrested by Powhatan Point police and is now in the Belmont County Jail.

Orville "Dale" Baughman, 26, of 53968 Krebs Hill Rd., Clarington, is being held under $15,750 bond on charges of breaking and entering and theft and possession of Schedules III, IV and V drugs. He was also booked on charges of aggravated menacing and criminal trespassing. No bond was set on those charges.

Police Chief Josh Haught said the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation Identification took evidence at the scene. The chief said he received a call concerning the incident around 5 a.m. Wednesday.

From the very beginning, Haught said police had a suspect in mind, but would continue investigating until they were certain.

"We found him with a large bag with the prescription medication still inside," said Chief Haught.

Greg Warren, spokesperson for Wheeling Hospital and which owns the Powhatan Health Center, said workers were busy making repairs and taking an inventory of lost items. Warren said it was obviously over drugs. He said Wednesday's burglary follows an attempted break-in about six months ago. At that time, an individual used a large rock to break through the first set of doors, but was unable to make it through the second set.
