St. John Central will look to make it two wins in a row Saturday when it hosts Sherman (W.Va.) at the Irish Youth Sports Complex in south Bellaire.
Kickoff is set for noon.
The Irish (3-4) defeated Valley, 42-24, last week as John Alvey and Devin Hennessey both eclipsed the 100-yard rushing mark. Alvey led the way with 126 stripes and a touchdown on 23 carries, while Hennessey ripped off 113 yards on nine totes.
Quarterback Dario Paolina ran six times for 55 yards and a touchdown, while also completing four passes for 75 yards and another score.
Paolina was playing for injured started D.J. Shoemaker, whose status for this week is still uncertain, according to St. John Central first-year head coach Jason Merryman. Shoemaker was injured during the Toronto game two weeks ago.
Alex Francis was on the end of all of Paolina's completions.
The Tide (1-5) are riding a two-game losing streak, having been dealt setbacks by Liberty Raleigh (40-0) and Independence (47-7). They were idle last week. Their lone victory came in Week 4 against 1-5 Hannan by a 32-0 count. They've also lost to Tug Valley (26-6), Calhoun County (46-26) and Wyoming East (38-8).
With the two schools nearly 2 hours apart, Merryman admitted that he really didn't know much about Sherman.
"We haven't been able to swap films because of the distance," Merryman said earlier in the week.
"We do have something we got off a web site, but it's awful grainy and hard to see."
Defensively, Paolina and Alvey divided 16 tackles last week against the Lumberjacks, while Francis and Hennessey charted seven each.
Francis also picked off a pair of passes.
In other action Saturday, Bellaire (5-2) welcomes Union Local (1-6) to Nelson Field for a 12:30 p.m. start.
This game was previewed earlier in the week in X's and O's.
