St. C. Hall of Fame to induct four

The St. Clairsville Athletic Hall of Fame will induct another class tonight when the Red Devils host Buckeye Local.

The Class of 2012 includes: Chester Lagod, Jeff Rice, Milene Chorovich and Jeff Mowery.

Here's a capsule look at the honorees:

CHESTER LAGOD, Class of 1945 - This former Red Devil had a storied career on the gridiron.

Lagod twice served as a team captain for the Red Devils and both of those teams, during his junior and senior seasons, finished undefeated. He earned all-Eastern Ohio for his seasons and he also earned a scholarship to Tennessee. He later transferred to Miami of Ohio and then to the University of Chattanooga.

After his collegiate career, Lagod played professionally for both the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles.

JEFF RICE, Class of 1970 - This former Red Devil standout was a star on the football field.

Rice earned all-Ohio accolades after a brilliant senior season in which he ran for 1,803 yards and 29 touchdowns. He was also named first-team all-OVAC and team captain.

After his prep career, Rice went on to play running back at West Virginia University.

MILENE CHOROVICH, Class of 1988 - It didn't really matter the sport because this former Lady Red Devils excelled in everything she did.

During her prep career, Chorovich earned 13 varsity letters and was a two-time team MVP in both volleyball and basketball. She was the OVAC Player of the Year in volleyball and scored more than 1,000 career points in her hoops career.

She went on to play two sports West Liberty State College.

JEFF MOWREY, Class of 1991 - Football was the sport of choice for this former Red Devil standout.

Mowrey shined on the gridiron, earning first-team all-Valley, all-OVAC, all-Eastern District and all-Ohio. He was also chosen to play in the OVAC All-Star Game and was voted a team captain.

Mowrey went on to have a brilliant career at Ashland University. He was also a standout in the classroom, twice earning GTE Academic All-American.

He's since been inducted to the Ashland University Athletic Hall of Fame.
