BELLAIRE - In less than a month, Jill Persinger has turned an empty Bellaire storefront into a clothing, toy and accessories store for children that caters to working families.

Bearly Used Boutique held its grand opening Saturday morning at its 3285 Belmont St. location, with customers already lined up to take advantage of Persinger's wide selection of clothing and affordable prices.

"I know how it is to be a parent and that it's all about your kids," Persinger said. "And it's expensive. I wanted to cater to the middle class families in the area and offer them quality, affordable options."

It's a dream Persinger has been looking to fulfill for a long time.

She noticed a sign in the window of the shop and saw how nice the building was so she inquired about it and everything went quickly from there.

"I started getting ready during the beginning of September," Persinger said. "I know how expensive things can be and I think it's great to be able to help out people in the community."

Bearly Used Boutique offers gently used second-hand items, from clothing and shoes to toys and baby gear and accessories.

The first 25 customers through the door Saturday were greeted with a free gift. They were also able to enter a drawing for a pair of $20 gift cards.

And the pricing system at Bearly Used Boutique makes planning to outfit your child fairly simple.

Persinger has many name brand items, but no matter the brand or quality, each type of item is priced the same.

Short sleeve shirts are $2.25 apiece; $2.75 for long-sleeve. Jeans, no matter the brand, are $3.75. Two piece outfits are $5. Heavy coats? Only $6.50.

If you need to purchase, say, five outfits for your son or daughter, you already know ahead of time how much it will cost. All that is required is picking out the clothes you want.

"Our price list is by item, not individually and the prices are pretty affordable," Persinger said. "And we do have a lot of name brand, nice items.

"I look on Facebook, on Craigslist, places like that and I have a lot of friends that have kids and you know how fast kids grow out of stuff.

"I want to be competitive with other consignment shops in this area, a little step below in terms of pricing."

Persinger carries clothing sizes ranging from newborns to 14-16-18. In otherwords, from babies to middle-school aged children, you can find what you need at Bearly Used Boutique.

The shop will be open six days a week with varying hours. Monday, Thursday, Thursday and Friday, it is open from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Wednesdays the hours are 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Bearly Used is closed on Sundays.

"I'm trying to have later hours to cater to the working men and women so they can still stop in after work," Persinger said.
