He served in the U.S. Navy as a boiler technician and was a truck driver for various companies for 34 years. Most recently he drove for E.C.S.& R out of Martins Ferry, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James (Big Biscuit) Hood and Mable Peck; and one sister, Julie Peck.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Karen (Suter) Peck; his son, Derek of the home; and a daughter, Courtney from Yorkville; his in-laws, Kenneth and Vivian Suter Sr. and Kenneth and Rhonda Suter Jr. of Rayland, Sandy Suter of Bridgeport, Ohio, and Chris Suter of Yorkville, Ohio; his "foster mom," Joyce Jackson of Mingo, Sarah Peck and Tina Farnsworth of Steubenville, Mary Staton of Mingo, Helen Jackson of Wellsburg, WV, and Leonard Peck of Mooresville, NC.
Friends will be received to pay tribute to Jim and celebrate his life Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Monday from noon until time of service at 2 p.m. at the Borkoski Funeral Home, Tiltonsville, OH, with Rev. James Agnew officiating. Burial in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio. Full military service will be conducted by Belmont County Council of the V.F.W. Monday at 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
