BRIDGEPORT - Firefighters from several local departments responded to an emergency call from a residence at 69560 Old Cadiz Road in Sunset Heights Wednesday night.

FIREFIGHTERS BATTLED a car and garage fire in Sunset Heights Wednesday evening.

He added that there were initial reports of an elderly female, believed to be 102 years of age, trapped inside, but she was gotten to safety by neighbors.

Delman noted the adjoining house has seen some smoke and fire damage. Firefighters checked extensions throughout the house. The cause of the fire is not yet known.

"There was heavy damage to the garage and some extension into the rest of the home," Delman said.

Delman said he did not know the identity of the home's owner.

Responders included Sunset Heights, Martins Ferry, Colerain, Brookside and Barton.

The home is located directly behind the Sunset Heights firehouse and when his first trucks turned the corner, firefighters saw heavy smoke coming from the structure.
