November 8, 2012
Times Leader

POWHATAN - The Village of Powhatan Point will kick of the holiday season once again with a celebration for the whole family on Saturday, Nov. 10 beginning at 8 a.m. The event includes local businesses, churches and organizations, food, live entertainment, door prizes, refreshments and more, a holiday parade, and of course Santa himself! In fact, Old Saint Nick will bring a festive mood to the annual event with a pancake breakfast at the Masonic Hall sponsored by the Powhatan Captina OES. There will be lots of good food and talented crafters throughout the village.

The Powhatan VFD and EMS lighted parade starts at 6:30 p.m. This year's Grand Marshalls are the retired, past and present teachers of Powhatan Elementary School. Trophies will be awarded following the parade at the elementary school. Again this year shuttle service will be provided free of charge to anyone who, after parking their vehicles, would prefer to use the shuttle, which will take anyone from crafters, to food vendors, to the entertainment area. There will be designated FREE parking areas along with posted shuttle stops.

This event continues to grow and this year is no exception. There will be over 40 crafters, over 16 food vendors and over 18 businesses participating throughout the Village. Raffle tickets will be sold and there will also be a quilt raffle. The quilt was made and donated by Audrey Ramsay. It is currently being showcased at The First National Bank Powhatan Point.

Program directories, maps and food menus will be provided at participating businesses and key locations throughout the village that day. There will be two information booths located at the main tent area and in front of the Powhatan Elementary school.

The CITV Committee welcomes everyone and encourages all to join in on the fun. The best part is that admission is FREE. For more information go to

Main Tent Area:

The three piece high energy dance and show band from Wheeling will be performing their newact "Shades of Time" with a medley of hits from Motown up to date hits. The show is a narrated performance, and the band will be dressed in costumes for that era of music. They perform oldies, disco and top 40 music with sequencing that gives them the sound of a much larger band.

Streamline is a well known, popular band from the Ohio Valley and noted for their superb four and five part harmony, backed up with solid instrumentation, a combination in any style, talent and plenty of versatility. Streamline fills the air with a variety of tunes from old and new country tunes, rock n' roll and 70 to 90's. Their gender of music is enjoyable to all ages. The dynamic entertainers in Streamline appeal to everyone who sees them perform.

Having carved a niche for itself in the regional music scene as one of the most exciting club, party and corporate event bands, ESB blends an eclectic mix of music including classic R&B and rock, soul, funk and blues. Their performances keep the pedal to the floor, captivating discerning listening audiences while kicking out high-energy dance music or slowing things for a ballad.
