CHARITY is a notable virtue. The Ohio Valley Christian Soldiers personify it, and have done so for many years now.

The Christian-based group was formed in order to serve local groups who need assistance. The Christian Soldiers have aided the cause of many in need in the most generous of fashions.

This past week, the Christian Soldiers again stepped to the charitable plate, delivering much-needed assistance to more than 30 local organizations. Donations that day totaled $54,000.

That is an impressive sum and one that will shower wide-ranging aid to a large number of groups who can desperately use it. The Christian Soldiers have become synonymous with monetary goodwill.

The group is now in its eighth year of gift-giving. The $54K distribution brings to more than $400,000 the total which the Christian Soldiers has donated to various group.

For one group to spread some much good monetary will is quite heartwarming. To weave so much magic in the Ohio Valley is truly remarkable.

The future also looks bright for the Christian Soldiers, as the group surpassed the 100-member mark and continues to grow.

Some of the organizations benefitting from the latest act of kindness were the Special Wish Foundation, Belmont County Salvation Army, Bridgeport Friendship COC Food Pantry and Children's Christmas, House of Carpenter, Marine Toys for Tots, Lace Up for Kids and the Wheeling Soup Kitchen.

The Christian Soldiers raise their money through a variety of events, including the popular Jeffery Showalter Celebrity Golf Classic, as well as donations from individuals and businesses.

"The Ohio Valley Christian Soldiers' goal is to raise money in Christ's name and give that money to charities and other organizations that would use the funds wisely to put food on tables, purchase cribs and diapers for infants, medicine for children, or provide shelter for families in need," said Jim Carnes, president of the OVCS board.

The Ohio Valley Christian Soldiers have their priorities in order.

They understand the importance of helping others and continue to demonstrate it selflessly.

We commend the Christian Soldiers for their boundless caring for their fellow man and their bountiful gift-giving to those who are in need of it.
