MARIETTA -- The River Pilots caught fire from beyond the arc Saturday night at Marietta College in the final game of the Ohio River Classic.

Unfortunately, for Mark Romick and his Pilots, it was all for naught as Athens High hit nine itself and posted a 76-72 victory.

The loss drops the Pilots to 4-3 and they'll meet PVC?rival Shenandoah on Friday before receiving an acid road test across the river at Magnolia on Saturday.

River owned a 20-17 lead after one chapter, but looked up at a 37-34 score at the intermission. They used a 26-22 third quarter to take the lead back, but watched the Bulldogs score 17 of the final quarter's 29 points for the victory.

River was led by senior standout Cody Caldwell, who knocked home nine 3-point goals and finished with 29 points.

Senior ace Brett Price continued his hot shooting, knocking home five triples and finishing with 19 points. Eric Dierkes added nine points

Senior pivot Jordan Indermuhle had seven points and six rebounds.

Matt Marconi had seven assists to go along with his five points.

River meshed 25-of-48 action shots. Athens shot 60 percent itself, burying 25-of-42 from the field.
