BELLAIRE - The Bellaire Police Department recently conducted an investigation into local drinking establishments, checking for underage patrons that were being served.

Police Chief Mike Kovalyk stated his department had received a few complaints about various locations throughout the village and will periodically conduct compliance checks.

Six locations were checked, with two passing and four failing, selling to an underage buyer.

The two that passed were Flanagan's and the Stone Bridge Bar.

The four that failed the test were: Denny's Blue Angel, the BP Gas Station, Rich's Oil Gas Station and the Circle K Gas Station.

"When we get complaints about these places, we try to check all of them out and make sure they are complying with the law," Kovalyk said.
