SNIVELY, Robert "Bob," devoted husband, beloved father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2013.
He was born November 2, 1929 in Martins Ferry, OH, son of James and Elizabeth Callahan Snively.
After graduating in 1948 from Martins Ferry High School, Bob joined the Air Force. He was stationed on Guam, serving during the Korean War. Following his military service he attended Penn Technical Institute in Pittsburgh, becoming certified in electronics. This led to a position with General Electric and brought him to the Shenandoah Valley and Waynesboro, where he lived for over 50 years. He worked a combined 37 years for G.E. and Genicom.
Bob was an avid outdoorsman with an adventurous spirit. He enjoyed archery, cave exploring, white water rafting, cross country skiing, hiking, and fly fishing. Additional hobbies included square dancing, antiquing, and Steelers football.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Jimmy and Jack Snively, and cherished companion, Blaze.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Lida; daughter, Diana Hagenlocker and husband, Jason; a very special grandson, Garrett; and sister, Betty Ann Lewis of Martins Ferry, Ohio; nephews, Scott and Bruce Lewis.
A private graveside service will be conducted at Riverview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2013 at McDow Funeral Home.
