Honey Hole looks to grow with community

WHEELING - In the weeks since the Honey Hole opened on Market Street in Center Wheeling, the community response has been positive, owner/operator Sarah Cerciello-Clark said.

"This is probably only one-third of what we had in here for the Christmas season," said Cerciello-Clark as she looked around the 2247 Market St. store, which was filled with a variety of merchandise from gourmet food to gifts and articles of clothing.

The Honey Hole sells dips and salsas for parties, refillable bottles of fresh oil imported from Greece, fine vinegars and preserves by the jar. Freshly baked breads are set out daily with a few dips for free sampling.

"We try to put a variety of dips out for people to know what we have and what they like," said Kandy Cerciello, Sarah's mother and partner in business.

"We also make our own bread, cookies, cupcakes, pastries and stuffed breads," Cerciello-Clark noted, adding she recently hired professional cake decorator Stacey LeMasters to customize cakes for weddings, birthdays and other festivities.

Aside from edibles, the Honey Hole offers a selection of gifts. Cerciello-Clark gestured toward a display of new women's shoes for spring.

She said they were all made from PVC material. Silver spoon jewelry and candles and handpainted wine glasses to purchase or rent for special occasions also are available.

"We work really hard to find things made in the USA," said Cerciello-Clark, noting that storekeeper Hannah McKee does a lot of the buying and seeks local products.
