ROBERTS, Richard D. “Dick,”

ROBERTS, Richard D. "Dick," 79, of Wolfhurst died Friday, February 8, 2013 at Ohio Valley Hospital, Wheeling.

He was born May 7, 1933 in Bridgeport, a son of the late Charles and Jeannette (Albasin) Roberts.

Dick was a retired Master Carpenter. After graduating from Bridgeport High School in 1951 he went to work for Scott Lumber Co. as a Architect Draftsman under Lawrence Tedeschi. He also worked for Paul Moore Construction until he started his own Company.

Among his many achievements was the single handed building of Wilson Funeral Home in Brookside, also he planned and constructed the warehouse for Wilson Furniture Co. and the Advance Auto Building. He loved building furniture for his children and grandchildren.

He was a member of Lansing Methodist Church, he was president of the CSA Lodge #251 Bridgeport, he loved bowling, a former member of the Brookside Volunteer Fire Dept. and the American Legion in Delaware, Ohio.

In addition to his parents Dick was preceded in death by his loving daughter, Kerry Lynn Melnick in 1983; and a brother, Gordon L. "Gordy" Roberts.

Dick is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann (Dalto) Roberts; a daughter, Nettie (Ed) Gavorcik of Adena; a son, Chuck J. (Carla) Roberts; and grandchildren, Nicole Roberts and her husband Kevin Bloomensaat, Derek and Danielle Gavorcik; also several nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to a celebration of Dick's life on Sunday February 10, 2013 from noon - 3 and 6-9 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Road, Brookside.

Services will be held on Monday at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Barry Hall officiating, interment in Linwood Cemetery Blaine.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wolfhurst Volunteer Fire Department.
