Red Devils’ Heath is district bound

St. Clairsville's Nate Heath was the lone area qualifier in the boys' sectional bowling tournament held Saturday at St. Clair Lanes.

The Red Devil finished second overall with a 3-game series of 648, just two pins behind champion Caleb Deford, of Sandy Valley.

Bridgeport's Cordell Bennett rolled a 621 to finish fourth, missing qualifying by 17 pins. Union Local's Dylan Nye (604), St. Clairsville's Josh Yeager (597) were fifth and sixth, respectively, with the Martins Ferry duo of Michael Seevers (590) and Corey Morrison (571) eighth and ninth. St. Clairsville's Wes Miller (567) was 10th.

Maysville won the team title with a total of 4,205. Minerva finished second at 4,140 and Zanesville was third with 3,843.

Locally, Martins Ferry was sixth with a 3,749, with St. Clairsville right behind at 3,726. Bridgeport, Union Local, Buckeye Local and St. John Central finished eighth through 11th, respectively.

District action will be staged in Chillicothe next weekend.
