ABOUT 30 tires on vehicles were slashed in Shadyside on Sunday between 2:30-4 a.m.
According to information from village police, the vehicles were parked on Highland Avenue. Some of the vehicles had more than one tire slashed. It was reported that two white males were spotted in the area at approximately 3 a.m.
Residents called the crime, "wrong, unbelievable and sad."
One woman said her mom had the tires on her van slashed. She said her mom's husband is disabled, has a ramp to get in and out of the van, so unfortunately, they can't go anywhere until they get the tires fixed.
Tow trucks pulled several cars on their beds and residents attempted to put spare tires on their vehicles.
A tow truck driver said he has never seen anything like it.
One resident said it is going to cost every family $200-$300 to get new tires. The resident had two cars vandalized.
Police said they aren't sure if the crime is connected to the slashed tire reports out of Wheeling last week. Sometime last year, someone used an ice pick to damage tires on at least 40 cars over a wider area in the town.
The incident remains under investigation.
